KUCHING: Bintulu’s Jimmy Raymond sent fans to the edge of their seats with a match-winning goal that secured a thrilling victory over Selangor FC, at the Sarawak State Stadium last night.
It all started with the right back, who received a through pass from Danial Amier. Jimmy attempted a pass down the middle, but it was deflected off a Selangor defender’s leg.
The crowd erupted as Jimmy’s goal in the 84th minute sealed a 2-1 win for Kuching City FC over the Red Giants, earning them three valuable points.
The atmosphere was electric, with over 5,000 supporters cheering on their local team.
Earlier in the match, Ramadhan Saifullah opened the scoring in the 27th minute after receiving a pass from Nur Shamie Iszuan Amin.
Kuching City FC displayed excellent passing movement, with Tchetche Kipre attempting to curl the ball into the top corner, but it sailed just over the bar.
It was a thrilling game, and Selangor responded in the second half despite the heavy downpour.
Muhammad Mukhairi Ajmal Mahadi, who came on as a substitute, scored a tap-in from a Selangor counterattack in the 51st minute.
Kuching City FC is currently third in the league, with 36 goals, tied with Sabah FC in fourth place, but their goal difference gives them the edge.
Next up, Kuching will face the Southern Tigers and already-crowned league champions Johor Darul Ta’zim at home on April 17. For now, the Cats will enjoy a well-deserved break.
