SUBIS: A landslide caused extensive damage to half of the road in front of the Jalan Chatting longhouse here following heavy rain yesterday evening.

The longhouse, which has 199 residents, is sited along the destroyed road.

“No casualties were reported during the landslide incident, alleviating concerns about potential harm to residents.

“Notably, the Public Works Department (PWD) has begun installing canvas as a preventive measure against the recurrence of landslides,” said a press statement issued by the Malaysia Civil Defence Department today.

Residents of the affected area are advised to remain vigilant and maintain awareness of their surroundings. If deemed unsafe, relocation to a secure location is strongly recommended.

The Subis District Office, Niah Sub-District Office, Batu Niah Police, and PWD are actively involved in addressing the incident.
