KUCHING: A new bridge will be built in Kampung Subek, Lambir to replace the present one, which is too old.

Lambir assemblyman Ripin Lamat said the project was listed in the 2018-2019 Rural Transformation Programme for Lambir.

However, he explained that there would be a slight delay in its construction due to a change in the project’s specifications and additional requirements from residents.

Ripin added that work to upgrade the road in Kampung Subek would also begin after the completion of the bridge.

The new bridge will allow vehicles up to three tonnes, especially tractors, motor graders and road rollers, to pass through.

The  bridge situation was brought to the attention of PKR National Women exco member Zulhaidah Suboh by the residents recently.
