LABUAN: Labuan Football Association (LAFA) today pledged to work harder to regain the Labuan’s football sports glory.
Its newly-elected president Sophian Said said former Labuan’s football players had shone not only at the national level but also, international.
“Labuan was once known as football players factory with its players playing at both national and international levels.
“One of former Labuan footballers was Datuk Hassan Sani and the current one is Johor Darul Ta’zim star Hazwan Bakri,” he said before attending LAFA breaking-of-fast event at the residence of Labuan MP Datuk Rosman Isli here.
Sophian said Labuan players who were once under Sabah Football Association had been among the top in Malaysia’s football era during the 1980s.
As such, he said more football scout talent programmes were also in the pipeline to find develop young footballers as skilful players.
Sophian also announced the appointment of Rozman as the LAFA patron. – Bernama
