DARO: Two local men were killed after the motorcycle they were riding, collided with an oncoming pick-up truck along KM20, Jalan Saai-Semop last night (Apr 7).

According to Matu Daro police chief DSP Neil Beginda, the accident happened around 7.55 pm when both vehicles were travelling in the opposite direction.

Investigations revealed that the collision happened when the motorcycle, ridden by the victims, veered into the opposite lane and crashed into the oncoming pick-up truck, which was driven by a 36-year-old man.

“As a result, the 47-year-old rider and his 42-year-old pillion rider succumbed to severe head, body, and leg injuries at the scene . They were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

“Their bodies were taken to Daro Hospital for a post-mortem,” he said.

Neil said the accident resulted from the rider’s inability to control the motorcycle, leading to the collision.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
