KUCHING: The spirit of ‘Segulai Sejalai’, a Sarawakian principle of moving forward together, was at the heart of Kumpulan Ikram (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd’s latest achievement as the company officially marked its adoption of the MS ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard today (Apr 7).
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap officiated at the event, held in conjunction with a Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri celebration that brought together staff, partners, and invited guests in the spirit of unity and shared progress.
In his speech, Yap said Sarawak’s development has long been rooted in the strength of collective effort, and the company’s ISO journey was no exception.
“Just as Hari Raya teaches us that collective perseverance leads to triumph, your journey toward MS ISO certification demands collaboration across a diverse team of engineers, administrators and partners,” he said.
Yap pointed out that the adoption of the MS ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard — an internationally recognised benchmark for testing and calibration laboratories — reflects not only technical compliance but a broader commitment to excellence, credibility and growth.
He added that achieving the standard could enhance operational credibility and inspire confidence among stakeholders.
“This milestone is not an end, but a bridge.
“A bridge connecting our rich heritage to cutting-edge innovation, and our local values to global opportunities,” he said.
He further noted that embracing such international benchmark aligns with Sarawak’s broader vision to become a competitive player on the global stage.
Linking the moment to the Aidilfitri celebration, Yap said the essence of Hari Raya is one of renewal, gratitude and unity, values that mirror Sarawak’s multicultural identity.
“Families open their homes to all, sharing satay, lemang, ketupat, and laughter regardless of background.
“This reflects Sarawak’s own tapestry — a harmonious blend of cultures, ethnicities and faiths,” he added.
He drew comparisons between the personal discipline required during Ramadan and the organisational discipline needed to achieve ISO certification, saying both are processes of growth that require adaptability and shared vision.
“Let the joy of Hari Raya remind us to uplift one another, and let the rigor of MS ISO standards inspire us to strive for excellence.
“Together, we can build a Sarawak that shines as a beacon of unity and progress,” he said.
