Kuching boy takes MBPJ/MILO Junior Tennis Open C’ship

KUCHING: Ryoga Kho from SJKC Stampin Kuching left yet another indelible mark at the prestigious Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ)/MILO Junior Tennis Open Championship 2023.

After his recent performance in the TennisMalaysia Masters 2023, the 11-year-old tennis sensation displayed exceptional prowess and resilience to clinch both the singles and doubles titles in the U12 boys division.

The tournament held at the MBPJ Sports Complex in Kelana Jaya, Selangor saw Kho’s remarkable talent as he triumphed against a field of 45 players to secure victory in the singles category.

In a nail-biting final, he faced stiff competition from 12-year-old Hariz Aiman of Negeri Sembilan, eventually emerging victorious with a hard-fought score of 7-6(7-2), 1-6, 6-3.

Not only that, Kho partnered Mak Zoo-M from Selangor to displayed exceptional teamwork and dominance in the doubles category, securing yet another championship title.

Their stellar performance led to a commanding victory over the pair of Hariz Aiman and Ahmad Ashman from Negeri Sembilan, securing the match with a convincing score of 6-3, 6-2.

On top of that, Kho did not stand alone in the spotlight of success as his younger brother, Yoshi Kho, 9, also made an impressive mark in the championship, reaching the quarterfinals in the singles category and advancing to the semifinals in the doubles category of the U12 boys division.

Both dedicated their victories to a support system that has been instrumental in their journey to success.

Kho acknowledged the pivotal roles played by his coaches, sponsors, school, and above all, his mother, who has been an unwavering pillar of support.

He said their exceptional triumph not only brings honour to Sarawak but also serves as an inspiration to young aspiring athletes.
