SIBUTI: Most of the obsolete small wooden bridges in Kampung Sungai Dalam have been replaced.
“I have visited Kampung Sungai Dalam on March 29, and I can see that most of the wooden bridges have been replaced with new ones,” said Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni.
Lukanisman, who was responding to news in a local newspaper which reported that Kampung Sungai Dalam was lagging behind in terms of basic facilities on Sunday, said he had made a survey of the situation and promised follow-up actions on those that need to be addressed.
On electricity and water issues in the village, Lukanisman said the installation of water pipes is being carried out through a meter-sharing method of one meter to five houses.
“This is the standard operating procedure (SOP) authorised by the Laku Management Sdn Bhd (Laku – northern region water authority) as it relates to the status of land in the area.
“Meanwhile, for the electricity installation, consumers need to get pro forma and meter installation quotation from the Sarawak Energy,” he explained.
Recently, PKR national women exco member Zulhaidah Suboh said Kampung Sungai Dalam needs serious attention from the relevant parties especially the people’s representatives on the basic infrastructure.
According to Zulhaidah, some of the basic facilities are getting worn out, damaged and unsafe, and some residents still face problems with water and electricity.
Talking about projects, Lukanisman said among the completed projects in his area is the open hall which can be used for activities such as futsal.
“We also plan to build the JKKK service centre as well as to upgrade the small wooden bridges and build new access road to Kampung Sungai Dalam A.
“In addition to physical projects, I also emphasise human development programmes, especially for youngsters, because we are experiencing unemployment issues in this area,” he pointed out.
In the meantime, the Sibuti MP also said that he welcomed all complaints from the public regarding development in his area.
“Members of the public can proceed to the Sibuti Parliamentary Service Centre at Taman Tunku with their grouses and recommendations.
