KUCHING: Sarawak’s boxing sensation, Daeloniel ‘Kilat Boy’ Mcdelon Bong, is armed and ready for a ground and pound fight night at the Rentap Fighting Championship 2025 at Stadium Perpaduan, Kuching.

The Sri Aman-born boxer is scheduled for Bout 8 on Jan 18, where he will face Indonesia’s Boido Simanjuntak, a formidable southpaw fighter.

Daeloniel, who is known for his unshakeable determination and tactical acumen, shared the preparations made for the upcoming battle.

“For the past three to four weeks, we have been hitting our marks in training, focusing on new technical and tactical elements.

“We had only recently learned that my opponent was a southpaw user, therefore an adjustment in strategy was deemed necessary,” he said.

Daeloniel attended the graduation ceremony for Discover Muaythai (DMT) Academy at Merdeka Palace on Saturday (Jan 11).

Daeloniel, who is the current World Boxing Confederation (WBC) Asia Silver Superbantamweight (55kg) titleholder, said he will remain relaxed and focus on his training to avoid making any minor mistakes.

“I rarely face southpaw boxers, so this will add on to one of the few encounters I have ever been in.

“No doubt, southpaw is one tricky style, but I am rather confident that I am able to make the right moves in the ring,” he told Sarawak Tribune recently.

While Daeloniel was prepared for the challenge up ahead, he remained grounded.

“I am not overconfident. We would always approach our opponents as if they are the better fighter.

“That sort of mind-set will keep our mind sharp and focused. The goal is simple – execute the game plan and perform our best,” he said.
