KUCHING: Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin remained tight-lipped on the proposal for him to contest in Seremban during the upcoming 15TH general election (GE15).
He said “oh tak payahlah (no need lah),” when asked by reporters on his comments on the matter during a press conference after witnessing the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing between Clinical Research Malaysia (CRM), Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) & Novartis Malaysia at SGH here yesterday.
Bernama reported on September 4 (Sunday) that Khairy would not be defending his Rembau seat in GE15.
The Health Minister said the reason was that he had been asked to give way to UMNO deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan to contest the seat.
“Since he (Mohammad ) is the Rembau UMNO division leader and I am his deputy, he has requested that I find another place ( to contest ) as he wants to contest Rembau,” Khairy said.
Meanwhile according to report by local news portal, Seremban MP Anthony Loke Siew Fook said that he was ready to face Khairy in defending his Seremban seat.
Loke is Democratic Action Party (DAP) secretary general. He won the seat in GE14 with a majority of 30,694 votes.
