KUCHING: Eight beneficiaries of Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) holders received Death Benefit Assistance (BIK) incentives amounting to RM3,000 from the Ministry of Welfare, Community Welfare, Women, Family and Child Development (KWKPK).
The handover ceremony was officiated at by Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, Assistant Minister of Community Welfare cum ADUN N32 Simanggang on Thursday at the Sri Aman division welfare office, located at the Penyayang Sri Jaya complex.
Harden said the BIK is an incentive from the state government to assist and alleviate the burden of families of the deceased KGC holders.
“For records in the Sri Aman division as of Jan 8, the social welfare office has received 10,923 applications while the total number of cards was 10,763. A total of 9,355 cards have been distributed to applicants aged 60 years and above,” he said in a statement.
For the application of BIK beneficiaries of KGC holders who have died as of Jan 8, the ministry has approved 150 BIK beneficiaries applications with a total of RM450,000.00.
Additionally, the delivery of fire disaster relief to the Jame Williams house fire victims located at Tekalong Dor Melugu which caught fire on Dec 1 last year received RM8,800.00 from the state government.
Also present at the ceremony was Sri Aman welfare officer Vivian Engkiong, Undop Iban community leader Penghulu Mingging Sigan and Sri Aman district council (MDSA) deputy chairman Andar Suntai.
