KUCHING: The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) has strongly condemned misleading claims by Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak concerning the alleged misuse of medical benefits under the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) programme.
Its Women’s Central Publicity and Information secretary Katherine Wong accused DAP Sarawak of employing unscrupulous tactics and urged the people of Sarawak to remain vigilant against their divisive strategies.
According to Wong, DAP Sarawak hastily organised a press conference to level allegations against the Sarawak Welfare Department without conducting proper investigations.
She said this was an attempt to sensationalise the issue and stir dissatisfaction with the Sarawak government for political gain.
“This behaviour demonstrates DAP Sarawak’s lack of basic investigative ability and reliance on exaggeration to attract attention,” said Wong, adding such actions highlight a strategy focused more on propaganda than on problem-solving.
SUPP Women’s Wing urged Sarawakians to stay alert to what it called “cheap manipulation tactics” by DAP Sarawak, asserting that these actions serve only to exploit public hardship and create divisions for political benefit.
“These tactics neither address real issues nor provide tangible benefits to the public,” Wong remarked.
“Instead, they foster misunderstandings and unrest. Public welfare policies are governed by clear processes, and we encourage everyone to avoid trusting unverified information or being used as pawns in political agendas.”
Wong reiterated SUPP’s dedication to serving the people of Sarawak efficiently and effectively. She highlighted that the party is ready to assist with applications for benefits, provide feedback on policies, and address other concerns to ensure the best possible outcomes for all.
She also reminded Kenyalang Gold Card holders that benefits under the Senior Citizen Health Benefits Programme are not disbursed automatically.
Applicants must follow the required procedures and ensure their applications are properly submitted and approved.
“We encourage cardholders to check the status of their applications promptly to ensure they can access the full benefits of the programme,” she said.
