JULAU: Smallholders need to be well informed of current development and direction of the country’s pepper industry and the support schemes and services provided thanks to the Malaysian Pepper Board (MPB).
The board’s chairman Datuk Any Ngau said this helps smallholders to get accurate and up-to-date information especially on the support schemes and services that benefit the pepper smallholders.
He said this when officiating the Malaysian Pepper Board Service Digitisation Seminar at the Julau Community Hall today (Aug 26).
For the seminar, its aims to shed light on the latest scenario related to the world pepper industry as well as the technology used in the Malaysian pepper industry.
This include providing knowledge to pepper smallholders so that they can practice more productive planting and production methods and techniques, about the market scenario of the local and world industry in addition to improving the understanding of smallholders about government policy.
In the same event, MPB Director General Henny George said the seminar was established to obtain feedback, views, ideas and suggestions for improvement from the industry on projects and activities that are currently and will be implemented, especially those related to the pepper industry.
A total of 13 representative of the recipients of the New Pepper Plant Scheme (STLB) (five), the Mature Pepper Plant Scheme (STLM) (five), Farm Level Pepper Quality Improvement Scheme (one) and Premium Pepper Production Development Project (PPLP) (two) who have approved of assistance were present to receive the assistance cheques.
Meluan assemblyman Rolland Duat Jubin, Julau District Officer Wee Teck Min, Julau District Police Chief Andam Sulim and other guests were also in attendance at the programme.
