Kapit town’s major projects inspected

KAPIT: Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat recently inspected several major development projects in Kapit town.

Among the major projects inspected included the proposed improvement to Kapit Town Square (Gelanggang Teresang), proposed development of Kapit Riverfront Phase 3, proposed improvement to Lily Pond and recreational centre and the proposed multi-storey car park. All those development projects are in the various stages of construction.

For Kapit Town Square with a scheme value of RM3.121 million, the works progress is on schedule now at 90 percent completed. It is expected to complete in late August or early September this year.  For the proposed development of Kapit Riverfront Phase 3 with a scheme value of RM3 million and the proposed multi-storey car park, both projects are expected to be completed by end of this year. Meanwhile, the work progress on the proposed improvement to Lily Pond and recreational centre (valued at RM12 million) is facing slight delay.

Kapit District Council, the implementing agency has successfully implemented all its major development projects under the 11th Malaysian Plan and Rural Transformation Projects (RTP).

During the site inspection Jamit was interviewed by RTM on the progress of each of those development projects which upon completion would transform the physical landscape of Kapit town.

Accompanying Jamit during the site visit were the deputy director RTM Sarawak Abdul Hadi Mohd Yusoff, deputy Resident Galong Luang, Kapit district officer Cerisologo Sabut, deputy Walikota of Kapit District Council Watson Awan and Datuk Alexander Nanta’s assistant,  Ambrose Abong Bugek.
