KAPIT: Children in Kapit will soon have better access to higher education following the Sarawak government’s approval for the construction of a community college in the division.
According to Baleh assemblyman, Nicholas Kudi Jantai, the state government has also approved the establishment of a MARA college in the area.
“These two institutions will equip our youth with essential technical and engineering skills, preparing them to contribute meaningfully to Sarawak.
“The skilled youth from Kapit will be employed in various sectors, such as the Bakun, Murum and Baleh Hydroelectric Dams,” he said.
He said this while officiating the completed Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project at Rumah Selukai, Nanga Oyan Mujong on Saturday.
Nicholas also expressed his readiness to assist the people of Baleh in obtaining aid for improving longhouses and roads, as requested by Tuai Rumah Selukai of Nanga Oyan Mujong.
Addressing the issue of damaged and unsafe roads, particularly along the stretch built on a former logging track, Nicholas said he had referred the matter to the Public Works Department (JKR) for further action.
During the event, he also presented allocations of RM10,000 to the Rumah Selukai Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), and RM3,000 to the Rumah Selukai Women’s Bureau.
