KUCHING: The remedial works for the dilapidated section of the Kampung Sungai Tapah road is scheduled for completion this coming Sunday (June 25).
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin said the contractor is currently carrying out remedial works by doing deep patching which would involve removing and replacing the existing pavement followed by the laying of geotextile, aggregates and premix.
“I have also requested the Public Works Department (PWD) to continue to supervise the situation.
“This is to ensure that all the necessary periodic maintenance works on the village road are consistently carried out to ensure that the condition of the road is in good condition,” he said in a statement.
He hoped the public would have a long term and bigger perspective of the issue at hand.
“The usage of the village road by the contractor is only temporary for the construction and completion of an access road at the southern side of Kuching International Airport,” he added.
The total cost of the project is RM112 million, approved by the federal government previously.
Yap said that he will continue to fight for more funding for implementation of better road connectivity and reduction of road congestion projects in Kota Sentosa constituency.
“This is because studies have shown that good roads make a crucial contribution to the development and progress of Kota Sentosa by stimulating economic and social development,” he said.
