KUCHING: Three vehicles, including a car, were seized in an operation codenamed ‘Ops Perayaan’ on Wednesday (Feb 7).

The operation, targeting traffic offences committed by road users, was conducted by the Kuching Road Transport Department (JPJ) around the city and Kota Samarahan.

The team issued three vehicle detention notices under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 against two motorcycles and a car for offences for expired motor vehicle licences and lack of insurance coverage.

JPJ also issued compound notices against motorists for offences like driving without a licence, possessing an expired licence and non-compliant plate numbers.

The department said enforcement aims to enhance compliance with traffic laws, mitigate traffic accidents, and ensure adherence to speed limits and safety regulations.

This effort also involves heightened surveillance and public awareness campaigns on road safety, especially during festive periods.

Members of the public can channel any traffic complaints through the e-Aduan@jpj appl or visit http://jpj.spab.gov.my, providing detailed information about the complaint.
