KUCHING: The long anticipated 812,090 square feet Mydin Mall at Vista Tunku, Petra Jaya here officially opened its doors yesterday and was launched by Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg.

According to Johari, Mydin will not only provide better living experiences for the people in Petra Jaya but will also help local entrepreneurs.

“It will help local products to enter larger markets with Mydin branches throughout the country and I believe it will expand its chain to other places in Sarawak such as Miri, Sibu and Bintulu,” he added during the opening ceremony of Mydin Mall in Petra Jaya yesterday.

The Chief Minister pointed out that with Mydin’s affordable price products would enable its shoppers to manage their finances better.

Meanwhile, Managing Director of Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd, Datuk Wira (Dr.) Ameer Ali Mydin said believed that the opening of Mydin in the area would help to
promote Petra Jaya as a wholesale centre. Ameer also pointed that in conjunction with Mydin’s 60th anniversary, Mydin iMeriah member cards and royalty programme offered a protection insurance policy under AmMetLife Takaful.

“The policy is on the form of food supplies for 12 consecutive months, worth RM300 per month,” said Ameer, adding the information on the policy can be obtained from their website at www.mydin.com. Mydin Petra Jaya also provides various facilities such as Wi-Fi con
nection, men and women mosque, Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) services, a playground, baby nursery room, wheelchairs for disabled and a food court.

The RM200 million Mydin Petra Jaya also created 500 job opportunities for the locals. Tenants in the new Mydin Petra Jaya include Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), Ding Tea, Potato Story, Taka Cake House, Watsons, WIJA Pharmacy, Level Up Fitness Gym, Lea Center, Smart Book Shop, OPPO, Wandalan, Eyesight Optic, XES and Sing Song Karaoke.
