SIBU: There is a saying, “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.”

Clearly, a 32-year-old man from Sekuau Resettlement Scheme, Stapang near here has not heard of this.

He assaulted his 61-year-old mother when she failed to give him money.

Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said at about 5.45pm on July 6, the suspect ran amok and attacked his mother.

“The suspect asked for money, and when she told him that she had none, she was attacked,” he said yesterday.

The suspect, who is jobless, threw a hard object that hit her face and left part of her body.
Not satisfied, he ran to the kitchen and returned with a knife and threatened to kill her.

ACP Stanley said the injured mother sought assistance from longhouse folk to send her to the police station to make a report.

The suspect was arrested at 6.45pm the same day.

He is now being remanded for investigation under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons and Section 506 of the same code for criminal intimidation.
