KUCHING: Hope Place Kuching recently came to the aid of a jobless man in his early sixties who had called the non-governmental organisation (NGO) for food aid.

Wong Yuan Chang, 61, lives alone in Mile Seven here. He used to be a store helper at a café at Mile 7 bazaar but has been out of work since the café closed down following the implementation of the movement control order (MCO) to contain the Covic-19 pandemic.

Left with no help and zero income, he contacted the NGO to ask for food aid.

Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan is helping Wong with basic food aid like rice, biscuits, malt drink and canned food.

“Wong has been trying to find a new job but with his poor physical health, this proves very challenging for him.  Both of Wong’s lower legs are swollen and he also has a knee problem which makes it difficult for him to walk,” Kelvin said in a statement yesterday.

Due to the RMCO, Hope place will not accept any second hand items at the moment.
