MUKAH: An unemployed man was arrested by narcotics police yesterday (Mar 13) for his alleged involvement in substance abuse along Jalan Kubu, here.

Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the 19-year-old suspect was picked up around 10.50 am following public tip-offs.

Upon inspection, the suspect surrendered a green straw tube to the police, which was found to contain crystalline substances believed to be syabu, with an estimated weight of 0.28g.

The suspect, along with the seized drugs, was taken to the police station for further questioning.

He said the suspect also tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine during an initial urine test and will be remanded at the  Mukah police lock-up for four days until Mar 18 to facilitate investigations.

Rizal said the case is being investigated under Section 12(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
