KUCHING: Village Safety and Development Committees (JKKKs) are urged to draft a five-year plan for development projects in their areas.
Utilities Assistant Minister (Water Supply) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said the projects will have to involve the current and future needs of the community.
He said JKKKs
have to fortify their network with agencies to ensure the projects can be
implemented smoothly.
“We have to act more effectively by drafting our plans starting from now until
five years in the future.
“We want physical project development to continue for the wellbeing of the people,” he said when officiating at a management and administration workshop for JKKK Pantai Damai yesterday.
Dr Abdul Rahman said JKKK is the main mover in development agenda, as well as for community wellbeing in villages and residential areas.
“This means JKKK is a non-government organisation (NGO) that is crucial in villages and can bring development projects,” he said.
He said Pantai Damai has 45 JKKKs representing villages and residential areas, adding that to ensure Pantai Damai has 100 per cent electricity and clean water coverage, each JKKK has to act by observing their surrounding areas.
“We target our area to have full electricity and clean water coverage by 2021,” he said.
Also present were Kuching District Officer Awang Yusuf Awang Mostapha and community leader Datuk Helmi Mohd Gol.
