Jealous man held after attack on girlfriend

MIRI: It was a case of a boyfriend-girlfriend quarrel with one accusing the other of infidelity.

In this instance it was the girl who was the accused. Her jealous 27-year-old man lost his cool and assaulted the girl which left her with multiple bruises.

This was when police stepped in and detained the man.

In the incident which occurred in a house in Piasau Taman 1 here last Friday (June 18), the suspect allegedly dragged the victim on the floor – resulting in her sustaining injuries on her body and neck.

She was also allegedly choked.

Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari when contacted, confirmed the arrest.

“The suspect was detained around 5.45pm, less than three hours after a report was lodged by the victim,” he said.

The fight apparently broke out after the suspect accused the girlfriend of cheating on him.

The case ia being investigated under Section Sectiom 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and under Section 506 of the Penal Code for Criminal Intimidation.
