MADINAH: The Islamic University of Madinah is offering an unlimited number of scholarships to Malaysian students to further their knowledge in Islamic Studies, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri.
Zulkifli said that the university also offered scholarships to Malaysian students in various fields, including medicine and engineering.
He said that the offer was the result of his meeting with the university’s president, Prince Mamdouh bin Saud bin Thunayan Al Saud during his working visit to Saudi Arabia.
“We are being invited to send our students not only in the field of religion and Syariah, but in the field of engineering science and others.
“InsyaAllah, I take note of this matter and will discuss with stakeholders to send our best students to deepen their knowledge in the Holy City of Madinah Al-Munawwarah,” he told the Malaysian media after visiting the university on Tuesday.
Among the advantages of the scholarship is that each student will be provided with a monthly allowance, accommodation, medical insurance and airline tickets.
Commenting further, Zulkifli said that the offer reflected the close relationship between Malaysia and Saudi Arabia at various levels, including education.
Zulkifli, who is an alumnus of the university, said that apart from this, the Islamic University of Madinah also intends to hold a student exchange programme with Malaysian universities.
“This university has gone through many phases of changes to be able to be placed in the best group in the world. Currently, this university not only offers the latest books, but also an advanced education system according to the latest technology,” he said.
Currently, there are more than 200 Malaysian students studying at the university. – Bernama
