MUKAH:  Members of the public are always irked by any automated teller machine (ATM) in their vicinity that is out of service.

Such frequent occurrences here in Mukah over the last few months have left the students of one local institution of higher learning (IPT) fuming.

New Sarawak Tribune today went to the ATM booth to check the situation, and discovered that the machine was really out of service. It was installed there about five years ago.

A female student, who preferred anonymity, said the ATM was always out of service including today, and students had been complaining about the matter.

According to her, the problem was said to have happened even before she entered the institution over a year ago.

“When the ATM here is out of service, students have to go to town to withdraw money, and at the same time have to spend about RM10 for transportation cost,” she said via WhatsApp.

The girl, who is in her third semester, added when the ATM was out of service, it would be difficult for students especially during emergency.

She hoped that the bank would do something as soon as possible to solve the problem.

It would be very convenient for all students if another ATM could be installed in the vicinity of another IPT nearby, the student, a local, suggested.
