MUKAH: A total of 94 Ramadan bazaar stalls were inspected during an Integrated Food Safety Operation at the Mukah Ramadan Bazaar here recently.
The operation was conducted in collaboration with enforcement officers from the Dalat and Mukah District Council led by Mukah Division Health Officer, Dr. Muhammad Najib Hasan @ Ahmad.
According to Dr. Muhammad, the stalls were inspected to ensure the food prepared and sold is safe and complies with the Food Act 1983, Food Regulations 1985 and Food Hygiene Regulations 2009.
“Remedial actions were taken and advice given to the operators.

“Additionally, 22 notices under Section 32B of the Food Act 1983 were issued not only to the owners but also to the representatives of the stalls and food handlers for various offences.
“These offences include failing to attend the food handler training course, not having anti-typhoid vaccination, and improper food handler attire,” he said in a statement.
He advised food handlers to always wear head coverings, aprons and closed shoes, and to remove accessories such as watches, bracelets and rings when handling food.
As of March 12, no public complaints had been received, and there were also no cases of food poisoning related to food sold at the Mukah Ramadan Bazaar.
