BETONG: The young leadership of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) must be brave enough to innovate while avoiding money politics.
Betong MP Datuk Dr Richard Rapu stated that the world is changing rapidly today, with issues such as globalisation, economic change, digitalisation, and environmental sustainability requiring dynamic and progressive leadership.
“Therefore, young PBB leaders must dare to innovate in order to adapt to new challenges.
“At the same time, they must uphold the values of integrity and trust as the foundation of leadership.
“Thus, avoid money politics, abuse of power, and self-interest because the people are becoming more astute in their judgment,” he said.
He said this when met by reporters during the rehearsal for the PBB Betong Zone Delegates Meeting at the Tan Sri Datuk Amar Stephen Kalong Ningkan Sports Hall on Friday (Jan 24).
Dr Richard, who is the Engkilili PBB chief, stated that the younger generation in PBB must understand that the struggle is not just about politics, but a great trust in defending the rights and future of Sarawak.
“It is crucial for all of us to defend Sarawak’s rights within the Federation of Malaysia, given that PBB’s struggle is rooted in the spirit of defending the rights enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
“Additionally, we must continue to fight for the state’s autonomy in governance, natural resources, education, health, and the economy so that Sarawak gets its fair share… while ensuring that the people receive balanced and fair development.
“Thus, every policy planned must benefit the people regardless of race, skin color, or background.
“Until today, we see PBB’s success because it upholds the principle of unity in diversity, uniting various ethnic groups and indigenous communities of Sarawak in one cause,” he said.
Dr Richard acknowledged that PBB continues to prove its credibility as the pillar of leadership in Sarawak, spearheading regional development with political stability, inclusive policies, and a commitment to protecting the people.
“PBB is not just a political party, but a people’s movement that listens to and addresses the needs of the community.
“Assistance to low and middle-income groups such as the Sumbangan Keperluan Asas Sarawak (SKAS), educational initiatives, and social welfare programs prove that the leadership of PBB prioritises the people.
“I am confident that with forward-thinking policies, political stability, and a commitment to development, our party will continue to be the driving force of Sarawak’s strength,” he added.
