MARUDI: A 28 year-old Indonesian national was detained by the police on Sunday after he allegedly licked a six-year-old girl’s private part.
The suspect had also allegedly tried to insert his penis into the girl’s vagina.
According to Marudi police chief DSP Mohd Ruslan Mat Kib, the suspect was picked up by a team of Marudi police personnel after receiving report by the girl’s mother on the incident.
“The suspect is currently being detained at Marudi police station lock up for 14 days to facilitate our investigation,” the local police chief said.
The incident unfolded on Saturday (April 23) afternoon around 4pm. This was after the girl’s mother, who is also an Indonesian, asked the girl about her whereabouts earlier that day as she had not seen her for the entire day.
During the conversation, the girl had told her mother that she had ‘played some games’ with the suspect.
The alleged incident was believed to have occurred inside one unit of the workers’ quarters in Sungai Bakong.
She told the mother that the suspect had licked her private part and attempted to insert his penis into her vagina.
A police report was immediately lodged by the girl’s mother at Marudi police station.
The case is being investigated under section 14(a) Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 and Section 6(1) (c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
