KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg yesterday received a courtesy visit from the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Malaysia, Bapak Hermono.
Hermono, who spoke to the media after the courtesy visit, stated that the meeting with the Premier aimed at strengthening the longstanding cooperation between Indonesia, specifically with the Sarawak government.
He said that in the near future, with the capital city of Indonesia relocated to Borneo island, Sarawak was seen to have potential to establish economic cooperation with Nusantara in terms of energy, food, and most importantly, carbon trading.
Hermono stated that follow-up actions would be taken regarding carbon trading and he hoped that this cooperation would bring economic benefits to both regions.
Also present during the visit held at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Building in Petra Jaya, were Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuching, Raden Sigit Witjaksono, Economic Consul of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, Hendra P. Iskandar and Economic Consul T. Satrio Nugroho.
