Sawn timber seized at the Sungai Kijang, Bintangor

SIBU: Acting on a public tip-off, an illegal operation at Sungai Kijang, Ulu Mador, Bintangor had been foiled by a joint enforcement team comprising officers from Sibu Regional Office of Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) and Forest Department on Wednesday.

This was disclosed in a SFC statement explaining that the enforcers had found a total of 67 pieces of sawn timber, believed to have been illegally extracted from a nearby forest. None of the logs bear any official markings. A report on the raid had been lodged at the Bintangor Police Station. The case will be handed over to the Forest Department for further investigation and disposal.

“The success of the raid was made possible by the cooperation exhibited between the agencies, therefore, more joint operations with Forest Departement Sarawak and other agencies will be conducted in time to come,” said Haji Zolkipli bin Mohamad Aton, Acting Chief Executive Officer of SFC.
