BAU: Two Indonesians were detained here for having invalid travel documents during an Ops Benteng operation on Tuesday.

Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the foreigners were later deported back to their home country through the Sarawak-Kalimantan border.

“Operations were carried out at Pasar Jambusan, led by the Bau CID team,” he added in a statement today.

He also said the operation was not only to prevent crime but also to detect and curb the entry of illegal immigrants into the country.

“Such operations will be carried out in future and the community in this district is urged to always work with the police in combating crime.

“With the cooperation of all parties and the communities, particularly in Bau district, we will be able to contribute to peace and harmony.”
