KUCHING: The Sarawak Health Department has declared a new cluster in Kuching, called the Icom Cluster.

“The index case of this cluster is Case 23,951, a local man, aged 20 who was detected through symptomatic individual screening at a private hospital in Kuching on April 18,” the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said today.

The cluster involved individuals who were infected while attending a dinner gathering at a restaurant in CityOne Megamall followed by a bistro along Jalan Song here on April 13.

The index case had attended a training session on April 14 with several speakers who had come from outside Sarawak.

“After further investigation, the individuals who attended the dinner gathering were found to be working at a property management advisory agency located at Icom Square, Jalan Pending, Kuching.”

With this, there are 54 active clusters in the state, of which 11 recorded 26 additional new cases.

On the status of districts, SDMC said Lundu District had changed status from green to yellow after recording one local infection case on Thursday. This brings the number of yellow districts in the state to 11.

“Pakan District has changed status from yellow to orange after recording 26 local infection cases in the last 14 days. This increases the number of orange-status districts to five.”

On the other hand, Sri Aman District had changed back to orange status from red after recording only 35 local infection cases in the past fortnight.

This reduces the number of red-status districts to 21. SDMC revealed that there were only three green districts in Sarawak.
