KUCHING: i-CATS University College is now on a strong trajectory towards achieving full university status.
Vice Chancellor Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suadi said this is not only an aspiration of the institution but also a long-term commitment to strengthening higher education in Sarawak.
“In pursuit of this goal, i-CATS University College has taken various strategic steps, including enhancing the quality of its existing academic programmes.
“This includes introducing new programmes that are relevant to current industry needs, such as the establishment of the Faculty of Energy and Technology and the Digital Business School,” he said.
He explained that this includes forming a dedicated team to drive this mission, which is led by Associate Professor Dr Leo Sing Lim.
“We have also recruited new academic staff, including senior lecturers, professors, and certified researchers, to improve the quality of teaching and research, as well as to strengthen the culture of research and innovation among lecturers and students.
“This effort can also be seen in our increased cross-sector and community collaborations — both local and international — including investments in modern infrastructure and facilities that support holistic learning and research,” he added.
He said this during the i-CATS Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri, attended by Chairman of i-CATS University College Board of Directors Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain at i-CATS building here on Wednesday (April 16).
In line with that, he added, that with the support of all parties such as the Board of Directors, staff, industry partners, the community, and students, i-CATS will continue to stride confidently towards achieving full university status in the near future.
“As Vice Chancellor, I hold great hopes that the entire i-CATS community — students, lecturers, staff, and alumni — can continue to uphold the spirit of unity, openness, and mutual respect.
“This Aidilfitri is the best time for self-reflection, forgiveness and to begin a new chapter.
“To the students, keep working hard with enthusiasm and discipline. To the lecturers and staff, thank you for your dedication and sincerity in educating and guiding,” he said.
The event was attended by over 100 guests, consisting of new students from this month’s intake and i-CATS strategic partners.
