MIRI: An 11-foot-long crocodile was captured in Kampung Muhibbah here last night (Dec 6) after it fell for a bait set by the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC).
A 28-year-old man came across the reptile, weighing nearly 100kg, ensnared in the trap in a drain while passing the area around 8.40 pm.
Fearing for his safety and that of the villagers, the Civil Defence Force (APM) was swiftly alerted.
A spokesman for the Miri APM said a five-member team together with a SFC member was dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, they secured the crocodile and took it to the crocodile park in Kuala Baram.
It is understood that the crocodile had been seen in the area by the public since Tuesday night.
Responding to public concerns and the viral sighting of the reptile on social media, the SFC set a bait in the drain.
