KUCHING: Two housing developers were ordered to pay a total of RM288,057.25 in compensation by the Sarawak Housing Purchaser Claims Tribunal for late handover of properties.
Panel members led by its president Datuk Maznah Dasmi, and Alhadi Ibrahim and Robert Elone Sireng came to the decision against Lien Dak Development Sdn Bhd and Multi Heng Development Sdn Bhd in a hearing at the Kuching Court Complex on Thursday (Sept 23).
Maznah said the compensation accounted for six claims on the late delivery of properties.
Of the total amount, Lien Dak was instructed to provide RM270,524.50 in compensation while Multi Heng with RM17,532.75.
“Five of six claimants will be paid by Lien Dak for the late handling and completion of common facilities and their properties on time.
“In similar matter, one claimant will be paid by Multi Heng for delaying the completion of property up to 723 days, minus the 163 days due to the movement control order.”
The claimant would receive the compensation, however, “if work on the property is still not finished, the claimant can file a complaint again until he gets the property,” said Maznah.
Both housing developers were given 45 days to compensate the claimants after receiving letters from the tribunal.
