DARO: A house and four vehicles at Jalan Kampung Masjid here have been destroyed by fire.
Eighteen firemen and two fire engines from Daro fire station were deployed to the scene. By the time the firefighters arrived, the house and vehicles were already destroyed.
Daro auxiliary firefighters helped to put out the fire and prevented it from spreading to other houses. The Sunday blaze was put out around 1am.
Also seen present at the scene were some policemen, members of the Civil Defence Force (APM) and People’s Volunteer Corp (Rela) and Sarawak Energy Berhad (Sesco) staff members.
No casualties were reported as the family of seven — three men and four women — managed to get out of the house. They are currently staying at a relative’s house.
The cause of the fire and the losses incurred are still being investigated by the fire department.
