MIRI: A house in Piasau Utara was broken into by thieves yesterday morning with RM37,000 missing.

The cash included Australian currency and jewellery. Also reported missing was a shotgun belonging to the house owner.

A police report on the incident has been lodged at Miri Central Police station (CPS) by the victim’s son-in-law.

According to sources, prior to the discovery the house was vacant as the victim, including the son-in-law, were away.

The son-in-law was just returning to the house from his sister’s residence in Krokop after performing prayer for the Qingming Festival that morning.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the burglars might have gained entry into the property from the kitchen windows.
