KUCHING: The Hornbill International Music Biennale will be held at the Hikmah Exchange Kuching, featuring Didi Astillah, Bunkface, Acoustic Fourplay and Indonesian singer Rizky Febian.

The inaugural concert, organised by Optimum Motion Pictures (OMP), promises to be two unforgettable evenings filled with music, energy, and special performances.

According to OMP senior general manager Hashim Rejab, the Sarawak-based project will be held for two nights and will have an incredible line-up.

“We will hold a two-night concert from Dec 27 to 28 at the Hikmah Exchange Centre in Kuching.

“The line-up includes Acoustic Fourplay, a local Sarawak band, who will be the opening act for Bunkface on Dec 27, while Didi Astillah will be the opening act for Indonesian singer Rizky Febian on Dec 28,” he said during a press conference here, Thursday (Nov 28).

Hashim expressed his confidence in the concert’s ability to draw a large audience, emphasising that the venue is well-equipped to accommodate attendees comfortably.

“We are aware of the star power of these artists and hope this concert will attract a large crowd to attend on those dates.

“The venue’s maximum capacity is 3,000 people, and we aim to sell between 2,500 to 3,000 tickets per show, but we are optimistic about hitting more than that.”

Malaysian singer Didi Astillah expressed excitement about her first performance at the Hornbill International Music Biennale in Kuching.

“This will officially be my first time singing in Sarawak, as I have only been there for shooting projects.

“I want to deliver a great performance and entertain the audience by singing songs that people can sing along to so everyone can enjoy the concert together,” she said during the press conference through a Zoom meeting session.

Furthermore, she added that she had planned something special for the concert on that night.

“I am definitely planning something unique and meaningful for this concert as it holds a special place for me, so I am ensuring it stands out from my usual performances.

“Expect special, fresh, different song arrangements and an exceptional show featuring my dancers.”

Malaysian rock band Bunkface, represented by guitarist Pa’an and drummer Biak, also joined the Zoom meeting session and said they are looking forward to their performances at the Hornbill International Music Biennale.

“We were in Sabah the last time we performed in Borneo and are thrilled that we are returning to Borneo to perform in the Hornbill International Music Biennale.

“We have been eagerly looking forward to performing here because the crowd in Borneo is always so lively and energetic.

“This event is like a grand engagement for the people of Kuching; it is the perfect match!” Biak said with excitement.
