KUCHING: Hope Place Kuching recently paid a visit to an underprivileged family living at Kampung Beradau, on the outskirts of Kuching.

The team had to walk on muddy jungle pathway from the roadside to reach the house of Zalar Fosta, 50, who lives with his wife and his two young children, aged four and 11.

According to Hope Place, the team provided Zalar’s family with basic food items, which also included supplies of mineral water once every three months, starting March of this year.

The team also helped Zalar to install solar lights at their backyard.

Zalar’s only income is collecting and selling wild fruits and vegetables near his home, which only totals to about RM300 or below per month.

With limited income, Zalar is unable to afford proper education for his children.

The family lives in a house made from wood and bamboo with only battery operated torch lights for lighting and rainwater as their main source of water.
