KUCHING: Kapie Galang, a 60-year-old man from Kampung Merdang Lumut, is receiving crucial support from Hope Place as he faces multiple health challenges and financial hardship.

In a press release by Hope Place, Kapie, a retired construction worker, has had to step away from his physically demanding job in his mid-50s due to health issues.

“His medical conditions include diabetes, high blood pressure, and severe gout, causing significant swelling in his joints and constant pain.

“Kapie’s mobility has been severely impacted, and he is often in distress, relying on painkillers to cope with the severity of his gout. Having never married and without a stable source of income or savings, Kapie has found himself in a vulnerable position in his later years.

“While he never owned a home, he is fortunate to have a small shack built by his late brother on his brother’s property,” it said.

The NGO said though his nephew provides occasional assistance, bringing food and checking in on him, Kapie’s living situation is largely solitary.

“In light of his circumstances, we have been providing Kapie with ongoing food aid to ensure his basic needs are met.

“We expressed gratitude to all donors who continue to support individuals like Kapie, making a difference in their lives,” the NGO added.

For those wishing to make a donation, Hope Place can be contacted at 082-505987 or 013-5672775. Contributions can also be made via bank transfer to Maybank account number 511289001160.
