The Maksak Sarawak rugby team gathers for a pep talk

KUCHING: The Government Servants Welfare and Sports Council (Maksak) Sarawak rugby team is gearing up for the 2024 Maksak Rugby 10s, with coach Zulkaranainhisham Sarbini at the helm.

Team manager Mikelson Jagger Johnny said that the team’s training has been progressing well.

“As civil servants, the players are disciplined and committed to the training schedule set by Coach Zul,” he told reporters at the Song Kheng Hai rugby field today (Nov 9).

“Their strong team bonding is a key factor in their success.”

Maksak Sarawak recently played a 10’s Test Match against KRFC and will now turn their focus to the national tournament in Kelantan from November 14 to 17.“Our goal is to reach the final,” Mikelson said.

“We have a strong squad with a good mix of experienced and new players.”

He expressed gratitude to the Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) and the Sarawak Rugby Union (SRU) for their support.
