KUCHING: The 16th Triennial General Meeting of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) or PBB Convention began with great enthusiasm at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

More than 3,000 delegates of the party are gathering for the meeting which takes place from Feb 14 to 16.

Today (Feb 14), the Youth and Women’s Wing began their meeting with Deputy Premier and PBB deputy president Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas officiating at the meeting, marking the start of the three-day event.

The Youth and Women’s Wing meetings earlier on commenced with speeches delivered by outgoing PBB Youth chief Miro Simuh, followed by PBB Women’s chief Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.

Meanwhile, outside the hall, the atmosphere was lively with campaigns conducted by candidates for the Supreme Council positions, each bringing forward hopes of further strengthening the party.

Tomorrow (Feb 15), Premier and PBB president Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, is scheduled to officiate at the main body’s meeting at 10 am.

In the afternoon, PBB’s permanent chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar, will deliver a speech before Abang Johari presents the keynote address and discusses outstanding matters.

The agenda also includes the dissolution of the 2022-2025 Supreme Council, followed by the election of the party’s new leadership for the upcoming term.

In the evening, delegates will attend a dinner with the Premier at BCCK.

On the third day, the results of the Supreme Council elections will be announced, followed by a debate session and the presentation of motions.

PBB deputy presidents Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Uggah will respond to the debate before Abang Johari concludes with a closing speech and adjourns the meeting.
