High Commissioner of India to Malaysia calls on Awang Tengah

KUCHING: B.N. Reddy, the High Commissioner of India to Malaysia, paid a courtesy call on Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan here Today (Sept 20).

Awang Tengah and Reddy exchanged ideas and views on a variety of subjects in which Sarawak and India could collaborate on such as digital and semiconductor, biopharmaceuticals, tourism, construction and commercial agriculture.

According to a ministry statement, the total trade between Sarawak and India was valued at RM9.933bil in 2021, consisting of palm oil and petroleum exports as well as the imports of aluminium ores, non-ferrous metals, and others.

Awang Tengah said during the meeting that there was indeed room for more trade activities between Sarawak and India.

He also welcomed companies from India to explore investment opportunities in Sarawak, particularly in digital economy where India has expertise.
