LIMBANG: The state government gave its assurance that help will be given to those affected by the movement control order (MCO) and are in dire need of food aid.
According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) in a news report today (July 6), Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, in responding to the matter of those who raised the while flag to show that they need food supply said, the state government has provided food assistance to every head of household under the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance (BKSS).
He said on top of that, the federal government has allocated RM300,000 to each MP to implement the Food Basket Aid programme.
“For those who really need food aid, help will be given to them, and I hope that no one will take advantage of this matter especially for those who can afford it,” he said after presenting contributions to Limbang District vaccination centre (PPV) on Monday (July 5).
He said those who can afford to purchase food can also come forward to provide assistance to those who are unable to afford it.
“When we are facing this Covid-19 pandemic, the most important thing is that we must be sincere,” he said.
Meanwhile, as of July 4, a total of 47,298 vaccinees or 64 percent of the 73,923 eligible population in Limbang Division has received the first vaccine dose, while 16,005 or 21.7 percent have completed both vaccine doses.
“The number of vaccinations will be further increased in the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) this month,” he said.
He said for Limbang district, the number of people who are eligible to receive the vaccination is 40,797 people and as of July 4, 22,446 people or 55 percent have received the first dose of the vaccine, while 8,273 people or 20.3 percent have received the second dose.
“For Lawas District, the numbers of those eligible to receive the vaccine are 33,126 people, of which 24,852 people or 75 percent have received the first dose, while 7,732 people or 23.4 percent have completed both doses of the vaccination,” he said.
Earlier on, Awang Tengah witnessed the handing over of four units of ventilators which were donated by the Brunei Darussalam government.
The handover of the ventilators was presented by Limbang Division Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) chairman Ahmad Denney Ahmad Fauzi to Limbang Division Health Officer Dr Norliza Jusoh.
In addition, about 150 boxes of 100 Plus drinks from F&N Company, 150 boxes of mineral water from the Northern Region Water Board (Laku) and food basket donations under the Sarawak Caring Farmers Programme from the Ministry of Modernisation of Agriculture, Native Land And Regional Development (Manred) and Limbang Area Farmers Organisation (PPK) were presented to the Limbang Civic Centre PPV.
