KUCHING: Relentless heavy downpours since early Monday morning (Feb 12) have led to the flooding of 21 houses at Kampung Rantau Panjang, with floodwaters reaching depths of up to four feet.

The Civil Defence Force (APM) Kuching promptly responded to the situation, dispatching a team to monitor the flood-prone area.

Despite challenging conditions, the main road remains accessible to vehicles, albeit with caution, while low-lying areas have been significantly impacted, with water levels reaching four feet.

Among the affected are 105 residents residing in 21 houses, where floodwaters have penetrated to depths of three feet within their homes.

The APM team distributed basic necessities to the families affected by the floodwaters.
As of 3.10pm, the weather at Kampung Rantau Panjang is cloudy, and water levels have receded.

Meanwhile, at Kampung Sinar Budi Baru, there is a glimmer of relief as the APM team has reported the receding of water levels.

This indicates that the situation is gradually coming under control, and roads within the village are deemed passable by vehicles.
