BAU: Heavy rainfall submerged 33 houses in Kampung Stass here under four feet of floodwater on Wednesday night (Jan 22).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from the Bau station were dispatched to the scene, about 19km away, after receiving a distress call at 10.50 pm.
Upon arrival, they found the road leading to the village submerged in six feet of floodwater, which prevented them from reaching the affected area.
While some residents were hesitant to evacuate their homes, the team advised them to relocate to higher ground or safer areas if the water level continued to rise.
The exact number of residents and houses affected by the flood was not immediately known.
No evacuation was carried out, and the team returned to their station at 12.13 am.
