KUCHING: The Ministry of Health (MoH) is discussing with the relevant departments and ministries on measures to resolve the issues faced by the healthcare sector.
Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the discussions include the issue of poor clinics, lack of budget and extension of working hours.
“I was briefed by Sarawak Health Department director Dr Ooi Choo Huck on the issues faced by Sarawak.
“We will deal with this problem through discussions between the relevant departments and ministries,” she said during the Sarawak Heart Centre’s 20th anniversary at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly Building yesterday (Jan 16).
Meanwhile, touching on the role of the centre, she said it has expanded its network of services and treatments to also treat kidney and cancer patients.
“Efforts like this can ensure that the people receive good health care services from the centre,” she added.
On another matter, Dr Zaliha commended the Sarawak’s achievement for vaccinating 12,612 recipients for its second booster doses so far.
“This huge number shows the region’s preparation to deal with the possibility of an increase in cases and deaths due to COVID-19.
“In that regard, I would also like to commend the actions of the Sarawak Health Department in encouraging the public to get their second booster shots here,” she said.
