MUKAH: SK Kampung Jebungan headmaster Rahim Topani, 60 has finally called it a day after serving 35 years as a teacher.
The school organised a simple gathering at a leading hotel here in appreciation of his services on Wednesday.
At the event, Rahim who is from Johor also celebrated his 60th birthday.
He related that teaching is a unique profession because even when a teacher retires, their former students and others who recognise them would still call them ‘cikgu’.
This simple salutation reflects the respect that society places on teachers and educators and would remain intact with that person throughout his or her life.
