KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, along with his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, graced the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House hosted by Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, and her husband, Datuk Dr Adi Badiozaman Tuah here today.
The distinguished couple arrived at 10.20 am where they were warmly welcomed by Fatimah, Adi and their family members at their residence at Jalan Sultan Tengah.
Joining Wan Junaidi and Fauziah during the visit were their daughter, Sharifah Fariah, and granddaughter, Athena.
Wan Junaidi and Fauziah also mingled with the guests present, including Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) mayor Datuk Hilmy Othman, SKUP president Lt Col. (Rtd) Datuk Fabian Wong, Sarawak National Malay Association president Dr Wan Ali Tuanku Madhi, as well as their spouses, political secretaries, community leaders and government officers.
Wan Junaidi and Fauziah spent over an hour at the residence before departing at around 11.45 am.
Meanwhile, Fatimah, when met with reporters afterward, expressed her gratitude at hosting such distinguished guests.
“We are very happy to be visited by none other than Tun and Toh Puan. This is truly an honour for us and our family.
“We also invited guests from NGOs, my office, and even a former police officer,” she added.
Fatimah also shared her delight in serving traditional Melanau food during the gathering.
“I took the opportunity today to serve some traditional Melanau dishes, including ‘tumpik’ and ‘bubur lelua’.
“Earlier, we also served ‘linut’. It’s a wonderful chance for us to showcase Melanau cuisine.
“We hope that with Tun’s visit today, not only our family but also the other invited guests feel the warmth of connection between a leader and the people.
“And the good feeling is truly there. It’s something we deeply appreciate. And we hope this will continue for the well-being of our people in Sarawak,” she said.
