SRI AMAN: Police here had arrested a man, aged 42, to assist in the investigation of a human head which was found on the banks of Sg Batang Lupar about 4.30 pm last Saturday.

Sarawak CID Chief, SAC Dato’ Dev Kumar in a media conference in Kuching yesterday said a post mortem had been carried on the head and confirmed that it belonged to that of a woman.

The suspect, a local, was the husband of the deceased woman. He has been remanded for seven days for further investigation into the death of his wife.

The deceased, aged 31 years, had gone missing for several days before the head was found.

She was a China national who married the suspect in 2011 and had moved into this town to stay with her husband.

The head was identified by family members the following day. According to the suspect, he did not report about his wife’s missing due to certain reasons.

Dev Kumar added that the suspect is being remanded under Section 302 of the Penal code which carries the mandatory death sentence upon sentencing.
